URA Team Contributes to the International Biodiversity Conference in Beijing
URA contributed to the international conference "Regional Governments, Urban Ecosystems and Nature-based Solutions in the Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework" held in Beijing from October 28-29, 2019. Around 60 representatives from Chinese national and local governments, policy influencers, urban planners, researchers and practitioners from eight countries participated in the conference, in which URA researchers took an active role in the moderation and discussion on, e.g., strategic subnational governance tools for the development and integration of urban ecosystems and nature-based solutions, as well as methods of science-policy cooperation within these topics. The conference was co-hosted by URA consortium member ICLEI and the "German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN)", supported by the "Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Secretariat". Participants also visited the Peking University Campus and Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden – two examples of maintaining good environmental quality and thriving biodiversity in areas with high levels of human activity.
